With this concept of long tail we understand that this phrases are made by people who are searching further information about a specific topic, obviously to look for the main topic isn’t enough to get an answer so they ‘spread’ their question over a longer tail keyword phrase in order to be more precise.

Now that we are over with this ugly definition, we can talk business

As an internet marketer or Affiliate marketer long tail keywords should definitely be a big part of your marketing strategy. You may use it either for SEO or PPC advertising through Google and other search engines. As we said before, people who are using this long tail phrases want to get specific information about a product,service, or just information. If you understand the benefit of it the opportunities are tremendous!

Using this long tail business model for our website would give a huge affect, when using the power of search for long tail in Google we can reach more specific audience and give them much more targeted answer for their query.

The traffic you will get from a long tail word is obviously way less than if you will from a short tail keyword, for example let’s look at the word “Insomnia” in Google:

As you can see the main word get’s about 301,000 searches a month, but if you look further down and combine all long tail searches and traffic all together you will get way more traffic that just the word “Insomnia” by itself. Obviously you will not be able to rank just for the word Insomnia.

As you can see  almost all of my traffic for this website comes from really long tail keywords which contains up to 8 words! Remember what we talked about earlier, the longer long tail phrases will give you much more targeted traffic. You can see that the avg. time that users spent on my site is quite long for an Adsense site.

Why am I telling you all of that? And how to find those long tail keywords easily?

Finding long tail keywords is quite easy if you are already running your own website with some decent traffic. You can go through your Analytics software and check the keywords visitors arrived to your site through. You will find a lot of words that you haven’t thought about yourself, using this long tail strategy you can create endless amounts of new content to your site.

If you want to know if this new words will get you any kind of traffic you can export all of them and just paste them in to Google keyword tool and it will give  you a better analysis.

To whom of you not running a website already you can use several keyword tools that can help generate lots of those words really quick.

The first one that is absolutely free is the Google keyword tool. You can generate up to 800 words in a single search when logged in with your Adwords account. I really suggest when doing your research always use the [exact] option and if you are not targeting only U.S traffic for location choose “ALL”.

Second tool I really suggest you use is Market Samurai. The keyowrd research section is FREE and you can use it with no extra fees.
Market Samurai system relies on the information it gets from the google keyword tool as well, but you can control much better on the keywords results you will get.

You can define the length of the words, I normally set it to a minimum of 2, and you can also control on the competition analysis of the words.
This software is absolutely recommended! The only down side of it is the slow respond time. It really takes a lot of time to finish a keyword research, sometimes up to a few minutes for a single search.

Long tail pro is the best long tail keywords generator in the market as for this days for sure. It really automates the process of finding new keywords that you can use to create exact match domain reach websites.

When doing keyword research for a new site you will need to go over few steps:

1. Find a good keyword with not a lot of competition and pretty nice amount of searches per month.
2. Analyze the competition for this word and check if it’s good for your needs.
3. Check if the exact match domain for that keyword is available for you.

With this software this 3 steps are combined together to a single running process. Which means that in a single click of a button you can check all of this options and save tons of time doing research for nothing.

1. Set the domain availability on, Check exact match domain availability .Com .Net .Org domains. Also check title competition.

Apply the next filters:

1. Average global searches- set just the minimum to 1600.
2. Average CPC- same here set just the minimum to 1$.
3. Title competition- between 1 to 180,000.
4. Check “Has available domain”- It will leave only the keywords that has their domain available.

This are the definitions I’m using to generate my keywords, it’s working for me as for this moment and i’m able to create new websites quite easily. Of curse you can also adopt this definitions as well- it will bring you great results for sure!

What I really suggest is to create a new project each time you are running a new research. Sometimes the software get stuck and that’s what causing it. Just create a new project and start running, the down side of it is that you have to set the parameters each and every time but that only takes about 10 seconds to set.
